Regular servicing is an important part of maintaining the condition of your boiler. It is very important to have your boiler serviced annually, not only for safety reasons and future breakdown prevention, but it is essential for keeping your manufacturer’s guarantee valid.
Limited hot water pressure
Water not as hot as it should be
Boiler over heating
Regularly needing to be refilled
Noisy fan/pump
Water pressure keeps dropping
Frequently having to reset the boiler
Stains on or near the boiler
Irregular/yellow flame
Whenever a product is burnt Ie. Gas or Oil in the case of boilers, Carbon Monoxide (CO) is produced. The amount of Carbon Monoxide, dubbed The Silent Killer by the Gas Safe Register (Formerly Corgi) depends on how efficient your boiler is working. These levels are checked and adjusted, if necessary, during your service.
The heat exchanger and condensate traps are checked and cleaned if necessary. Boilers that are dirty or not configured correctly affect the efficiency of your appliance, costing you money and also can contribute to high levels of Carbon Monoxide, risking your safety.
"A stitch in time saves nine" never a true word spoken. Example: If your boiler has developed an un-seen leak, which is identified during an annual service, changing a washer costing a few pence is much more cost effective than leaving the issue for it to worsen, causing structural damage to the appliance and potentially damage other expensive components costing hundreds.
This is one of the main reasons that the UK's leading boiler manufacturers such as Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi and Ideal insist on annual servicing.
